mTw clinched the bronze at WCG 2009 following a 2-0 win over CMAX.gg. mTw had endured a hard time on de_nuke against fnatic, and they demonstrated once again why this is not their best map as they took a lot of time to get into the game. CMAX.gg came out very strongly as CT, taking five rounds in a row before mTw could claim their first one. Sergey "Fox" Stolyarov helped his side take several rounds with his amazing play, while Alexander "ave" Holdt was the only mTw man on fire as CMAX.gg took an 11-4 half-time score. But in the second half, mTw looked like a much improved side, and their consistent defensive play earned them several rounds in a row, with Danny "zonic" Sørensen topping the fragging charts as mTw cruised to a 12-1 result to set the score at 16-12. On de_inferno, mTw began well as CT, but a well-planned strategy from CMAX.gg in the third round put a stop to the Danish side's start. From then on, it would be the Russians to stand out as they cruised to a 10-5 lead at the interval. However, it would be mTw to set the tone in the second half, winning their 11th round in a 1on1 situation to make it 16-12 and secure the third spot in the competition and a place on the podium. |
